Wayne Gretzky was tremendous but needed
help. no question. Wayne Gretzky is the greatest playmaker in NHL history.
Phil Esposito is the greatest goal scorer in NHL history and Bobby Orr is
the greatest player in NHL history. Like Bobby Clarke said. There should
have been another league for Orr. Timing had it that he broke Hull's goal scoring record that night. The Great One probably expanded hockey in the southeast and west but to this day Phil Esposito and the Boston Bruins kept hockey alive in California. He was the dominant force in hockey for 7-8 years and I agree he has never received a tittle of the respect he deserves. cadvan3https://www.blogger.com/profile/14746618485651056135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28355714.post-75366632859200644292011-02-03T19:59:26.286-08:002011-02-03T19:59:26.286-08:00I'm proud that one of the last times I was in ...I'm proud that one of the last times I was in the grand old Garden was for Esposito's number retirement. Man, when Ray pulled off that jersey ... "What's he doing? Huh?" was our reaction, but when we realized what was going down -- what a roar came up for two of the classiest players ever to pull on the Black-and-Gold.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02470665187320576433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28355714.post-15870426175205723212010-05-19T08:46:57.955-07:002010-05-19T08:46:57.955-07:00those guys were a great team, and are great human ...those guys were a great team, and are great human beings. Orr and Esposito seemed to always know where the other player was situated so the pass was always right to them; I swear that they must have eyes in the back of their heads sometimes. It was beautiful to watch. It was a more physical game then. The way they would board a player in a crouch position and then spring up and lift the opposing player off the ice and drop him on his backside was great. The hockey today is faster but I miss some of that physical checking.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12533154795226659371noreply@blogger.com
